Raiting: Soft R for Mild sexuality (non-explicit underage in which Sam is 16), Non-explicit Dean/soulless!Sam, mild violence, and language.
Characters/Pairings: Sam/Dean, some Dean/Lisa
Summary: His Dark Materials Fusion: Ever since Sam was a little kid he's been different, whether it was his male daemon or the mysterious Dust only Sam could see. Now he's trapped in the underworld after saving the planet, separated from his brother, his daemon, and even his body. Dean and his wolf daemon Trixin try to take care of Xantherios, Sam's dying raven daemon, and keep Sam's soulless body from causing trouble, but they're both starting to give up hope. At least until the day Castiel arrives and tells Dean that the secret to saving Sam from Hell and reconnecting soul and body lies in the Dust Dean only ever half believed in. Desperate to save Sam, Dean faces an unimaginable horror to enter the underworld and bring Sam back.

cherie_morteso much for being one of the most loveliest person ever and thus making my very first experience (coupled with spn-j2) of a Big Bang a success. I pounced on her story when reading the summary and didn't let it go, and you should totally go read it.My love for Aus and fusions knows no bounds (no, seriously) and I love His Dark Materials since our 6th grade's (11/12 years old) teacher made us read it - though it's been years since I didn't open the books and I probably should take this as a hint and re-read them. So it was an absolute pleasure to draw for this story.

Random Art Notes :
on The Winchesters were never taught...
- If you want to feel my pain, this is one of the reason why what should have been the banner took so much time to be done. This is the picture with which I worked and you can't know how much I'm thankful for the duplication tool. I soon saw while finishing coloring the characters that it wouldn't be possible for me to draw/colourize the entire background. First because I suck at it, second because it was A4 format, and third because I really feared I was going to spoil the Winchesters and their daemons who are the important thing (tm) of the drawing.
- (So it took me probably more time fusionning the drawing and the picture than colouring the background would have taken and even if I'm not fully satisfied with the finished result, particularly the light/shadow, I won't touch it anymore or I will try to burn the file)
- Interestingly, it's not at all what it was supposed to look like when I first drew the sketches. But, well, it's okay.
- Dean is holding Slim Jim, a brand of beef jerky. I wish we had this in France because it looks tasty, but alas I only know it from reading fanfictions. I thought it would make a good scene, Trixin whining at Dean to give her something to eat with Xanthe assuring back up on the other side, while Sam would stare lovingly and longingly at Dean, unseen. (I SENSE LIKE A PATTERN). A scene of everyday but somehow with already the atmosphere of the story.
- Trixin's coat (fur pattern ?) was decided while searching for useful pictures of wolves (what do you mean anatomy can't be learn with google image you can do everything with google images). I settled for one whose picture I later used for the Part Two divider.
- While talking about the dividers, the picture of the raven I used for Part One divider is actually one I took myself at Paris, Jardin des Tuileries, some days after reading the early draft of the story. As I said to my friend who was with me this day, 'it's probably creepy how much I'm excited for this project but I don't care and I'm going to take all the pictures of ravens I can, we never know how it could come in handy'

Hello darling! I am so in love with this art and so so happy you picked my story. It was a joy working with you and getting to know you, and your energy and enthusiasm were so wonderful.
First of all, in relation to the banner and dividers, because they are completely new to me and were such a lovely surprise last night! I love that you chose to represent the story by their daemons and the font you used is SO PERFECT for the atmosphere of the His Dark Materials world and those elements of it I was trying to capture.
The first drawing captures them so well. I love this casual moment where they're all just hanging out and how naturally integrated the daemons are to their lives. I also love the little bits of Trixin's fur peeking out through Sammy's hands. *___*
And then the illustration of that post-first hunt scene is so so sweet. Deeeaaaaan. His whole body is so slumpy and miserable, but look at little bb!Sammy trying to cheer him up with his little toes. <3333333 I love Sam best here--you did an incredible job making him look like young!Sam.
But I still think Dean and transformer!Trixin is my favorite thing. I already told you how much I laughed at it when I saw it at work and it made me so happy that you chose to include it in this post. It's just so silly and Trixin is so cute and ridiculous and it's so something that Dean's daemon would do. XD

I am myself so happy that I picked your story and ended with such a lovely and talented author ! I can't wait to talk more about absolutely silly things and vast life questions.
I'm really happy you like the banner and dividers ! If I can say, I'm quite proud of them. They're simple but I like simple but pretty things. And yeah, I have a need when searching for fonts that compels me to try ALL THE FONTS and this one was like "HELLO I'M THE ONE YOU'RE SEARCHING FOR". At first I searched a font like the one on the covers of His Dark Materials, but they're so many editions. Also I have a deep affection for this font and also thought it would go well with the story spirit !
Yes, the fur ! I really wanted to do Sam gripping Trixin, in a casual manner but with a Possessive-Don't leave me I'm gonna leave you!undertone (even if this drawing is atemporal/Au/whatever), because the part of your story juste before Sam kisses Dean, when he's playing with Trixin and her fur and what it made Dean feels, I was totally flailing at that and had to re-use it somehow. (Apparently, that would be a not-that-sexual kink. SPNxHDM kink only, but kink anyway XD)
I'm very happy you like young!Sam, because I love him too XD Maybe that's also because I had no real problem drawing him when all the rest of the drawing was WTF Perspective (including Dean, sorry Dean). And I was thinking, would you like me to do some icons out of the drawings ? (when I'm done colouring them) I know that I will probably do it for me anyway x)

You SHOULD be proud of them. And you know, when I first saw them, I thought it must have been the font on the covers of my copies because it just so immediately jumped out and said HIS DARK MATERIALS for me.
