Actually, Jared's lack of antlers had a big effect on how the story played out. And you know, it never occurred to me that it wasn't intentional on your part, or I would have mentioned it! I worked it out in Jared's backstory though, which never made it into the fic. Antlers are seasonal and are shed after rut, around the fall. Jared doesn't have them because they've already been shed. They'll grow back. The first draft had a scene with Jensen discovering the bony surface of the shed antler when he checked Jared for injuries, but I ended up cutting it. Part of the reason it stayed PG13 was that I couldn't reconcile the timing of rut and lack of antlers. LOL, and you don't want to know how many deer-mating videos I watched before I realised that I wouldn't be including it!
